But now Love Is Blind is hitting the reset button. On Love Is Blind , there are no profile pictures. Instead, the premiere episode follows 30 ridiculously attractive men and women as they embark on a round of speed dates where they never actually see their date. Placed in adjoining rooms, the potential paramours are separated by a thin wall. But the sparks are palpable, which is essential, because Love Is Blind takes these potential couples way past flirting. After just 10 days of speed dating, willing pairs are only allowed to see each other after getting engaged.

Master Of None has been subtly fucking around with storytelling this season, departing even more from traditional narrative structures than the first season does. It ends with a group swipe sesh—that mean and yet totally fun group activity where you let your friends weigh in as you swipe, turning dating apps into more of a tribunal process. In fact, quite the contrary. Dev immediately establishes different rapports with each of the women, who are loosely sketched but brought to life by charismatic and distinct performances from Tiya Sircar, Lauren Miller Rogen, Alison Barton, Aparna Nancherla, Condola Rashad, Mary Elizabeth Kelly, Pallavi Sastry, and others.

Competition is in the air, thanks to March Madness, but the return of the dating series has us thinking about perfect pairs instead of an elite eight. As our own sweet sixteen proves, user error can be as big a problem as cold, unfeeling A. While Ron fends off surprise visitors as the result of a new government initiative, Leslie Knope sets out to date in earnest again.
Keen to be fixed up, she looks to her best friend Ann, who is currently dating her former flame if Mark could be called that. It may sound like a groaner of a premise, but the episode actually won a GLAAD Media award for its handling of homosexuality in a comedic but thoughtful manner. The answer: 12 hours. They make the most of their night together, then spend years apart in unsatisfying trysts and relationships before getting a second chance.
It dawns on her that their trials and tribulations are the actual compatibility test, and she asks Frank to take a leap of faith.

Even just a few years ago, there was a healthy amount of stigma attached to meeting someone online. Online dating has bled into the pop culture consciousness at a steady clip; shows like The Mindy Project even worked out a deal to integrate the dating app Tinder into its narrative. Dates , however, lives and dies by online dating.
The first two episodes are first dates between mismatched pairs of people. The intimate setting and two-person cast makes each episode feel like a play, which can work when the actors are appealing. As the Dates drama unfolds, though, the self-important dialogue and blatant stabs at hitting some human truism become more exhausting than illuminating.

The Japanese company Sanrio is responsible for some of the cutest creations in popular culture, and Gudetama is one of its strangest characters, an anthropomorphic egg yolk who just wants to lay around in its soft egg white and eat other food. The problem is that Gudetama is extremely lazy, typically offering advice that will provide the quickest fix—if it fixes anything at all. Wook-Jin Clark and letterer Tom B. This is immediately put on display on the title page, which features a background of Gudetamas lounging around both in and out of their eggshell.

Oh boy. Disney, ever the optimist, has rescheduled the theatrical release of the thoroughly embattled New Mutants. And what you read next just may shock you. Just kidding: The studio has set the premiere for August 28 of this god-awful year, which should come as no surprise to anyone who has followed the tumultuous progress of this uniquely sabotaged X-Men installment.
Had this news arrived in February, when shelter-in-place orders had a two-week expiration date and the pandemic still seemed liked a horrific, but somewhat manageable in tragic retrospect hill to climb, few would have given this move much of a second thought. However, now the idea sounds almost comical. But Disney loves a good miracle, so maybe theaters will have found a way to not only reopen, but thoroughly thrive in the next three months.

The current coronavirus epidemic has, obviously, played merry hell with the normal Hollywood film release calendar for the next several months—if not years. Faced with a world in which theaters are no longer in operation and would suffer seriously reduced box office draws even if they were , studios are forced to ask themselves some hard questions. More often than not, though, the call has been to delay—although the lengths of those delays have said a lot about what individual studios think about how long the need for quarantine is going to last, ranging from Paramount moving A Quiet Place Part II back a mere 5 months , to F9 dropping back an entire calendar year.
Because these changes have been coming at us all as fast as a frowning John Cena running to glare down an equally frown-y Vin Diesel, we decided it might be good to have a place to check back and confirm what the current hypothetical release schedule actually looks like. Looking at you, poor, abandoned-again New Mutants.

The FBI case is unfolding on the sidelines, but it sharpens a lot of the stakes and motives. The characters have been thrown into a pressure cooker.
This episode has one of my absolute favorite titular lines of the entire series. Viola Davis delivers it so naturally that it almost feels like improvisation. But her exasperation here is also sort of how I feel about the case of the week in general, which takes a lot of odd turns. And it culminates with Annalise giving a speech to an incel about how he should love himself, which is a cheap moment. Who deserves love? How do systems of oppression affect the way people love and find love?
The episode tackles these questions, but it also digs deep into the hearts of its characters. Asher wonders why people keep leaving him.

The eight episodes that make up season one are all based on true narratives selected in a series from Epic Magazine and presented, with some alterations, as a gradation of immigrant tales. The show invokes hopefulness and optimism despite the various challenges faced by the characters. The result is a series of heartfelt stories, as uplifting as they are tearjerking.

In that spirit, he proudly struts around in his newly acquired cowboy hat and boots—when he tips his head to two older women, he appears to fit right in. That strong resolve is the vein that runs through all eight episodes, connecting them even as the plots run through different cities, timelines, and cultures.
